Charlie Schmidtmann

Schmidtmann began volunteering with Nederland Fire in 1995 and developed a reputation as a skilled EMS provider as well as a certain ability to atract challenging calls. He took a leave of absence for a period of time, during which he worked as a 911 dispatcher for Boulder County, completed a degree in nursing in additional to his degree in kinesiology  and worked at Pridemark Paramedics as an EMT-B.  After which, he returned to Ned Fire as a career Engineer. He completed EMT-Intermediate in 2010 and was promoted to Captain.

Schmidtmann was sworn in as Fire Chief on September 20, 2023 after being the Interim Chief for NFPD twice, once in 2021 and again in 2023.  He is an asset to the District not only as a Captain/Paramedic but as a mechanic and skilled builder helping to be the "jack of all trades" most members of the District have come to rely on.
